GeoRoPE: Ground-Aware Rotary Adaptation for Remote Sensing Foundation Models

Remote-sensing foundation models (RSFMs) benefit from pretraining on imagery from multiple sensors and ground sampling distances (GSDs), but such exposure alone does not resolve scale mismatch during downstream adaptation. A fixed token-grid offset can correspond to different ground distances across sensors, making grid-based positional priors physically inconsistent. Meanwhile, heterogeneous spatial granularity means that compact urban regions and homogeneous landscapes may require different positional sensitivities even under the same GSD. Therefore, we propose {GeoRoPE}, a ground-aware, RoPE-compatible, and parameter-efficient spatial adaptation method for RSFMs. GeoRoPE recalibrates token-level positional interactions from two complementary aspects. First, Geo-Coordinate Calibration (GCC) rescales raw token-grid offsets according to the ground distance represented by one token-grid step, producing geo-calibrated relative coordinates across GSDs. Second, Geo-Frequency Calibration (GFC) adjusts the native RoPE frequency with a relation-specific factor, enabling position sensitive adaptation to scene-dependent spatial granularity. GeoRoPE is injected into pretrained RSFMs through a lightweight adapter, preserving the frozen spatial prior while adding geo-aware positional corrections. Experiments across multiple RSFMs, sensors, resolutions, and downstream tasks demonstrate that GeoRoPE improves cross-resolution robustness and scale-sensitive representation learning.

Robust semi-supervised scRNA-seq integration from virtual adversarial learning

Single-cell RNA sequencing integration methods that rely solely on transcriptomic data often struggle to preserve fine-grained distinctions between closely related cell subtypes. As a result, cell populations that are separable in the raw data may become over-mixed after integration, reducing biological resolution and interpretability. Incorporating marker gene information can potentially address these issues; however, the variability and complexity of available marker sets limit their effective application. To address this, we introduce scCRAFT+, a semi-supervised integration model that innovatively incorporates marker gene information through Virtual Adversarial Training (VAT). By jointly optimizing marker-derived supervision and transcriptome-wide representations, VAT enforces local prediction smoothness among transcriptionally similar cells, improving robustness to noisy marker annotations while enhancing both integration quality and cell type auto-annotation. This targeted approach significantly enhances annotation accuracy and robustness, particularly when faced with incomplete or incorrect marker gene sets. Benchmarking shows that scCRAFT+ achieves consistently stronger performance than current unsupervised and supervised integration approaches, resulting in improved integration quality and biologically meaningful sub-cell type auto-annotations.

"Us with them": Co-designing a caesarean section consent and debriefing intervention in West Cameroon

Background Women-centred maternity care is a rights issue that determines the use of services. Such care ensures responsiveness to womens needs which is enacted through shared decision-making, review and response. In the West Region of Cameroon, informed consent (IC) and Debriefing for caesarean section (c-section) have been shown to be suboptimal or absent. This paper describes the participatory design of a quality-improvement hospital-based intervention. Methods From February to May 2025, we conducted a co-design process with three groups of stakeholders: 59 post c-section women and community representatives, 78 frontline c-section providers, and 29 directors of public and private hospitals. We followed four phases: planning, conducting, evaluating, and reporting. The conduct phase comprised five all-day workshops with post c-section women and community representatives, followed by five all-day workshops with the c-section providers. Finally, we held an 11th workshop with the hospital directors to scrutinize suggested interventions, evaluate their feasibility, and establish a consensus on their components. We described the intervention using the TIDieR (Template for Intervention Description and Replication) checklist. We documented the co-design process, using open-ended narratives to delineate interventions, and carried out real-time synthesis on visual aids (whiteboards and flipcharts). Intervention feasibility was quantified using a structured ad hoc matrix, while insights on facilitators and barriers were captured through qualitative free-text entries. We coupled data collection with constant comparison and triangulation through contemporaneous field notes, photographic documentation, and thematic mapping of stakeholders perceptions and interactive dynamics. Results Participants perspectives on the co-design were positive, and their motivation were very high although less than 50% reported previous involvement in co-design processes. More than 80% of participants found rated the co-design process as either good or very good. The final intervention comprised four components: (i) an in-service training; (ii) a standard operating procedure including a harmonised consent form and debriefing checklist; (ii) systematic supportive supervision, monitoring & evaluation; and (iv) a routine clinical audit. Each group of stakeholders upheld specific dimensions of the consent and debrief intervention. Post c-section women and community members emphasized emotional support, written discharge advice after debriefing, and zero tolerance of suboptimal consent and debriefing practices. Frontline c-section providers insisted on robust documentation for medico-legal protection. Hospitals Directors emphasized capacity-building and cultural friendliness. All the groups supported womans autonomous decision making. The intervention feasibility was rated high or very high by hospital directors except for the financial, infrastructural and technical domains. Conclusion This co-design process yielded a context-specific, multi-component intervention that was well accepted and deemed feasible across stakeholders. It provides a methodological approach to strengthening informed consent and debriefing as core elements of women-centred, accountable maternity care, and warrants implementation.

A Multi-Agent system for Multi-Objective constrained optimization

arXiv:2606.20236v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Many decision-making problems in computing and networking systems can be naturally formulated as cost-minimization problems under performance constraints. In dynamic environments, reinforcement learning (RL) is often used to solve such problems at runtime by embedding both costs and constraint violations into a single scalar reward through weighted penalty terms, following a Lagrangian-inspired formulation. However, in this context the behavior of the learned policy critically depends on the choice of these weights, which are typically selected manually. This makes it difficult to identify an appropriate trade-off between optimizing the primary objective and effectively avoiding constraint violations, particularly in non-stationary environments where their relative importance may change. This paper presents MAMO (Multi-Agent system for Multi-Objective constrained optimization), an approach to tackle this balancing problem through multi-agent RL. MAMO decouples task execution from objective design by formulating the selection of reward weights as a learning problem, providing a !rst step towards more autonomous and robust RL-based solutions for constrained optimization problems in dynamic environments.
